Getting Started...

If this is your first website then below you will find brief information regarding the steps involved in getting your website online.

deposit

Deposit

After your initial contact with me outlining your requirement, if you wish to proceed, I will ask you for a deposit of 40%.

domain name

Domain Name

If you don't already have one, I will help you decide on a domain name (the address people type into their browser to find your site) and purchase it for you once your deposit has been received.

content

Content

I will discuss with you the number of pages you require and the likely content of your new website. Don't worry if you don't know at this stage as I can advise depending on the information you tell me you wish to include. Websites can always be extended at a later date.

design process

Design Process

I will ask you if you have any design preferences or specific requirements. Links to sample sites are useful in order to gain an understanding of your taste and style ideas. I always build sites 'from the ground up' so you can be sure that your design will be unique.

Once you have sent me your content and any images you wish to include, via email or on CD, I will draw up a draft design, including a logo if required and present this to you via a link to your draft site on our server for your approval.

I can help with advice on writing your content, however I cannot write it for you. While I know my business, I do not know yours!

If you don't have any suitable images, I can often source some for you. Your logo can be supplied in a resolution suitable for printing on letterheads or business cards.

When you have reviewed your site I will then work with you to make any changes you require until the final design meets with your approval.

testing

Testing

Once the design of the website is complete, I ask you to fully test all pages and links. I test too, but unfortunately I am human and can sometimes miss things. It is vital that you are fully satisfied that everything works as expected.

going live

Going Live

When the final design has been agreed and the website fully tested, the balance due is payable and I will set up the hosting for your site (the file space your website will occupy on our server) and point your domain name to it.

If you have purchased your own domain name to be used with your site we will need access to your control panel (you will have received an email from the company from whom you purchased the name with details) in order to do this.

At this point any email addresses will also then be set up.

post live

Post Live

Despite best testing endeavours, occasionally problems may be discovered after the website has been made live.

If any problems are found then these should be notified as soon as possible so they can be corrected. Problems are always fixed free of charge.

promoting the website

Promoting your website

Generally I advise clients that a Google Adwords campaign is well worth considering in order to gain exposure for your website.

I can advise on setting one up or I can do it for you for an additional fee.
